Not too long ago Denmarks leading hi-fi publication, High Fidelity, wrote that, when it came to ICEpower amplifiers such as ours, the word perfection was hard to avoid. Though flattered, we are aware that ICEpower is still a young technology and that its potential has yet to be fully realized. We are also aware that the various companies employing this technology will utilize it in different ways and with varying degrees of success. Since the above statement was published, we have succeeded in further refining our products, and in 2004 one of our amplifiers was selected by Stereo Times as a Most Wanted Component.

At present we produce mono and stereo ranging from affordable to expensive, no-compromise versions. Even the most modest of these will outperform virtually any other power amplifier, whatever its cost. Typically a Krell or a Mark Levinson of comparable output will weigh between five and fifteen times more. While idling they will guzzle hundreds of watts. An Acoustic Reality amp consumes maximum ten.

Despite their small size our amps are capable of putting out tremendous amounts of power. Inside our two statement models we use generously oversized transformers, and in our new flat models we run virtually directly on the main voltage, so our petite little debutantes can muscle their way through speaker loads of 1 ohm. Bass is tight and strong. Dynamics are awe-inspiring. And no other amp can match their transients for speed. But girls will be girls, so our little ones also excel in such delicate disciplines as detail retrieval, image stability, and soundstaging. They can be sweet too.

Distortion is mainly noticeable by its absence. There is no crossover distortion, no power supply noise, and other kinds of distortion are exceptionally low and do not increase at higher listening levels. Paradoxically, the clean quality of the sound and the ensuing lack of aural irritation can deceive one into believing that the volume is considerably lower than it is. Raising the sound level to compensate for this subjective sensation is not necessarily a good idea. If your main priority is loudness, the amp will survive, your ears may not. If, on the other hand, your priority is fidelity to the musical source, the pure, nuanced sound will give you pleasure for many years to come.
